Angie and I are RVing fulltime in our 2006 Monaco Knight 40PLQ. I work full time as a web programmer, and Ang works full time taking care of me :-). Thanks for reading our stuff.
So how long have I been talking about the damn heat? This topic seems so played out. I wish it would just go away so that I can talk about something fun, like electrical issues, cleaning wheels, the difference between Tom driving the rental truck 1500 miles and me driving The Knight 1500 miles, etc. There MUST be something other than the heat and my lack of an air conditioner to talk about!
Hmmmm..... oh yea, theres that one thing... hmmm, no, it was hot then, how bout that other thing... no, it was hot then too...
Well, I guess there isn't. You get to hear more of "Trouble in Monaco Service Paradise".
Our week at "Camp Monaco" - AKA Monaco Diamond Hills Service Center - was quite fruitless. Under the advisement of a person in the Monaco Service Department, we took our chances as Emergency Drop-Ins to get our damn front A/C repaired/replaced. It became quickly obvious that: a) they were busy, and b) we weren't in a level of coach that would ever constitute an "emergency".
After four days of watching more expensive coaches drop in, get fixed, and leave, we finally figured out that we needed to do something different. We moved over to the Diamond Hills RV Park for an evening of 50A service. It was a pleasant change from the 50 hours of generator we heard while parked at Monaco.
Friday morning, we took our chances on an appointment made at Quality Coach Services in Eugene, OR. We pulled in, and within about 20 minutes, they had talked with us about the problem, confirmed that the A/C needed to be replaced, and was on the phone tracking one down for us! Ang and I were amazed - 9 weeks and counting, and all we had to do was find QCS!
They found a new Duo-Therm 13.5k roof A/C unit for us at the Monaco Service Center (don't even go there). They picked it up, and within an hour of them getting back with the unit, they had the old one out and the new one in place! Ang and I were like giddy school girls.
Then they turned it on...
Hmmm - more problems. Seems that the thermistor that was shipped with the unit was bad or damaged during shipping/install. We decided to take the new problem with us to the Monaco rally, where they gladly fix two service items for everyone that attends. I think we will squeeze both of our items into one, as if this gets fixed, I don't really care what else is wrong!!
So, off we go to the Monaco Pre-Rally tomorrow in Salem. I got the coach and Jeep washed today, cleaned the basement, installed some hooks and clips down below for various hangy things, dumped the tanks, hooked up the Jeep. We are ready to roll. We will be quite happy if nothing breaks between here and Salem. As it is only 50 miles away, we are quite hopeful ![]()
