Angie and I are RVing fulltime in our 2006 Monaco Knight 40PLQ. I work full time as a web programmer, and Ang works full time taking care of me :-). Thanks for reading our stuff.
Leaving "home" is never easy. Even though we are fulltime, glamping technomads (heh - new buzzwords!!), we still feel like the Bay Area is still home. Its always nice to get there, but not always easy to leave.
We are now in Twentynine Palms, CA., in cool little RV park that sits next to a golf course. The park is called Twentynine Palms Golf Resort, and there were a couple of things that attracted us to it...
We were looking for a way to get down to the Arizona border without a) spending the whole day on the interstate, and b) going through the LA basin. When plotting out our drive on Delorme Street Atlas, I saw that we could cut down through Mojave and down through Victorville without spending much time (only 24 miles) on I-5. We are not big fans of I-5.
The main benefit was that we didn't have to go up The Grapevine, nor did we have to drive 210 through the LA area. Sweet! We had a beautiful day of two-lane highways, through the California desert. What a way to go.
The landing spot in Twentynine Palms mostly had to do with its neighbor - Joshua Tree National Park. Ang and I have been wanting to see the park, so we figured a trip in the morning will satisfy that itch! I will be sure to take lots of pics to share.
The final bonus with this place was that it is a Passport America park - $19 a night!! We thought we were going to have to get out of California for that kind of rate. I think we would be likely to spend a few more days here, but the Wifi connection is weak, and EVDO is crawling, and I have work to do. So, we will play tomorrow and take off shortly thereafter.
On the suggestion of our new friends Wayne and Cindy, Ang go up the nerve to get behind the wheel again! While she didn't go real far, she got some wheel time in, and it will just add to her comfort level for driving. Who knows - maybe I will be able to take a nap while SHE is driving someday!!
More fun stuff tomorrow.
