Westbound and Down
Loadin up and Truckin
Are we gonna do what they say cant be done
We got a long way to go and a short time to get there
We're Westbound just watch that Bounder run
I love that song...
We left Colorado Thursday morningish and drove
to South Dakota to visit Mount Rushmore. We stayed
at Rafter J Bar's, a great RV park in beautiful Black Hills, SD. The Memorial was very impressive. I was surprised of the impact it had on me, it renewed my already deep appreciation for this great land we live.
We also visited Crazy Horse Memorial, its about a strong willed Indian leader of the Lakota tribe who defended his people and their way of life. Crazy Horse also houses a very large and impressive museum of Native American history.
We left South Dakota on Saturday and drove to Wyoming
to see Devils Tower. Big giant granite rock that is 40 million years old. We hiked around it and left. Then we went to Yellowstone National Park checked in around midnight after we almost hit a enormous elk approaching the park. We woke up early had a killer breakfast then drove through Yellowstone! We witnessed Old Faithful erupt!
After leaving Yellowstone we approached a town named Greybull, Wy, where they were partying in the streets. Apparently, we entered the town during a huge centennial celebration honoring the 49ners that traveled through on their way to California for the gold rush.
Wyoming turned into Idaho and now we are in Nevada.
Kev is going to rest, then work and we will drive the Sierras and be in San Jose soon.
