Update on the Pace Arrow

As you may know, I picked up a 1978 27 foot Pace Arrow Class A motorhome last Saturday.
I drove her directly to a smog station where she passed easily only needing a new gas cap.
The 440 hums like a top and the automatic transmission shifts smoothly. The air conditioner works great as does the 4Kw Onan generator. The tank, battery, propane level indicators work also.

Plugged in to shore power and Im waiting to see if the refer/freezer works. I have high hopes since there was rotting food in the drawers, meaning the fridge was being used recently.

The ride above 70 mph was rather rough in the front end with a serious rattle of the whole dash. This is likely due to the original front shocks still being there. A nice set of Bilstein air shocks and that should smooth that out nicely. If not it may need leaf springs or tie rods but thats not likely. Tires are good.

There is an occasional smokey smell due to a common problem with 440's. The valve gasket is right next to the exhaust manifold and the gasket cooks and weeps oil onto the hot manifold. Easy fix.

Stuff it needs:

Passenger captains chair is missing. Pedestal is there. Wipers don't work and one is missing. Leveling jacks are not operational and the left rear is wired up with a coat hanger.
Several 12v interior lights MIA
All access door locks are jacked. I'll switch to new barrel type latches.
Escape hatch on roof and front roof vent have been sealed with an aluminum caps. They were probably leaking.
These should be replaced but its low priority.

Stuff yet to test:

Propane stuff: Stove, Oven, water heater, propane operation of refer, space heater,
Fresh, gray and Black water tanks.

With what I have seen so far, I got myself a great deal on this coach.
