Begging, Borrowing, and Stealing

Just some of the tactics I used to get the Turnip out of the shop. The new radiator, hipo water pump, thermostat, hoses and belts yielded a cool running motor.

When I picked her up the idle was way high. I fiddled with it and got it lower but then it would stall when cold.

I brought her back to Leales and we discovered that there were a few vacuum leaks that were causing the motor to run lean.
After a new gasket under the carb was installed, the timing was checked. It was advanced for some reason. Turns out that the starter was weak and the motor would not start with the correct timing. I needed a new starter. Also the battery is undersized and they recommend a bigger one.

Another $400-$450 later and I'm picking her up tomorrow.

We leave Friday come hell or high water.
