getting close!

The issues to be addressed on the Brave can now be counted on one hand!
I picked her up from what will likely be the last visit to Leale's. The $115/hour shop rate is outrageous.

[More:]

I had them look at 4 things:

The fuel gauge is not working. The estimate was for 10 hours since the tank has to be dropped. I declined this service. I can drop the tank myself easily and I've fixed this type of thing before.

There is no 4th gear. The RPM's seemed very high on the freeway. A test drive confirmed that there is no 4th gear. Actually, it's a 3 speed. No problem. It's perfoming flawlessly. Peace of mind is a good thing.

I removed my holding tank since it is old, cracked and brittle. It's a 2 volume gray/black tank. I had one estimate of $1000 for a custom tank since my current tank is "so old" that it's unavailable (according to Ideal RV in Redwood City). Leale's called Winnebago directly they ordered me an OEM tank with all the fittings already installed for $300. They quoted 8 hours to install so I said "just throw it in the back" It took me about 15 minutes to mount it in place. Ideal RV said they would plumb it up in less than 2 hours at $75/hour.

The radiator hoses were rotted and ready to blow. Plus they are a BITCH to get to. I had Leale's replace these to avoid the busted knuckles and swearing extravaganza. While they were at it I had them replace the slightly leaking valve cover gaskets with the super high temp silicone set I got on eBay for the Turnip but never used.

I'll be putting a new toilet in after the plumbing is sorted next weekend. I'll spare no expense on this aspect of my Burning Man home!

Also after the plumbing is done I can test out the water heater. Hopefully it works. If not I'll be upgrading to a higher capacity unit with additional electric heating element.

No doubt about it, I'll be camping large this summer. Dark Skies, Burning Man, Pismo Beach...

Pics coming soon!
